Avery Blair
Avery Blair was born and raised here in Taos. After graduating from Taos High School in 2001, she began her college career in Fort Collins, CO at Colorado State University. After one year, she realized that New Mexico was calling her home and returned to the Land of Enchantment. She received her Bachelor’s in Environmental Education and Communications in 2006 from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Avery loved working for the Forest Service and educating visitors about various environmental issues at the top of the Sandia Mountains. It was in this position where she realized how important education was and how much she enjoyed teaching others. She made the decision to continue her education in the teaching field. Avery received her Master’s in Education with a TESOL endorsement in 2010. She was able to pursue an alternative route to licensure while working in various teaching positions with Albuquerque Public Schools. After completing her education and beginning a family of her own, she returned to Taos to be closer to family.
Mrs. Blair married her high-school sweetheart and fellow Taoseno in 2008. They have a son who attends Taos Charter School and daughter in high school who graduated from Taos Charter School. In her spare time, she enjoys paddle boarding on the Rio Grande, hiking, camping, and snowboarding with friends and family. She has taught 6th grade at Taos Charter School for several years and is grateful to be a part of such a wonderful learning community. She looks forward to meeting her middle school students and continuing to improve herself as a teacher with each new year.
