Town of Taos Events PresentsA Free Community Health Fair and Blood Drive
The Town of Taos Events invites the community to the Free Community Health Fair and Blood Drive: Hope, Health, and Healing for Our Community on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Don Fernando Hall, 120 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos, New Mexico.
This free, family-friendly event will bring community members together to connect with local health and community organizations, receive free health screenings, learn about wellness and prevention, and participate in activities for all ages.
The Health Fair will offer blood pressure, glucose, vision, hearing, oral cancer screenings, and basic health checks along with information on diabetes prevention, nutrition, fitness, healthy aging, stress management, oral health, Medicare and Medicaid, insurance, and other community resources.
Families can enjoy kids’ activities, games, crafts, coloring, interactive activities, youth fingerprinting, and giveaways. The first 100 people will receive a free Pocket-Aid Mini First Aid Kit.
Community Organizations
Participating organizations include Age Up Well Taos, Aging Services ADRC/SHIP, ABC Suicide Prevention, Childhood Cancer, Community Against Violence (CAV), Globe Life Insurance, Holy Cross Health Insurance Support, Holy Cross Medical Center, Jeanne Connects, Julie’s Mobile Dental Hygiene LLC, MECA Therapies, Mindful Frontiers/Anne-Marie Emanuelli, Paso a Paso Network, Pure Hygiene Dental Clinic, Rivera Family Funeral Home, Safe Pet Partners, Taos High School CNA Alumni HOSA, Taos MainStreet, Taos Police Department, Taos Whole Community Health, Town of Taos Events and Community Volunteers, UNM-Taos Nursing, Vitalant, and YDI Head Start.
Together these organizations will provide health screenings, educational information, community resources, family activities, and support services.
Community Blood Drive
Vitalant will conduct the blood drive during the Health Fair. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments may be scheduled by calling 1-877-258-4825 or visiting vitalant.org.
One blood donation can help save a life.
The blood drive is held in honor of Clarice Lopez and Matteo Maestas, two brave childhood cancer warriors from our community who have benefited directly from blood donations. Their story serves as a reminder of how a simple act of generosity can provide hope and help to children and families facing serious illness.
Honoring September Awareness Month
The event recognizes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Healthy Aging Month, and National Suicide Prevention Month. During the Town Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Mayor Daniel R. Barrone will officially recognize these three important observances in Taos highlighting the importance of supporting children and families affected by cancer, promoting healthy and independent aging, and increasing awareness of suicide prevention and available support.
