TK1’s Gorge Bridge Art Projec
TK1’s Gorge Bridge Art Project is now open to all K-12 students in Taos County. Following our Youth Council’s successful efforts to Raise the Rails at the Bridge, this Contest seeks student art submissions. Draw, sketch, charcoal, paint, fingerpaint, animate, illustrate, sculpt with popsicle sticks or create 3D models to capture the Bridge’s unique beauty. Your art should celebrate the Bridge’s majesty, its awe-inspiring engineering and staggering geography, with mountains to the east, sunsets to the west, and underneath the walls of the Gorge stretching on either side of the Rio Grande. Your art can show the breadth of the Bridge’s span or even a smaller detail, like the mountains through the railings. You can even completely reimagine the Bridge in your art – so long as we still recognize it!
Create art that captures the Beauty of our Bridge
The Contest
There are two submission categories:
● As entire classrooms. These can be K-12 classrooms anywhere in the County, where students complete artwork on the Bridge in either one classroom-wide project (e.g. a mural) or as one collated entry of each student’s work (e.g. a collection of fingerpainted pieces).
○ The prize is a Pizza Party in October 2026, and will be awarded to three different classrooms.
● As individuals. This is for any youth enrolled in any Taos County K-12 school, and for homeschoolers up to age 18. There will be one Grand Prize of $250, three
Runner-Up prizes of $100, and ten $25 Starbucks gift certificates.
SUBMISSIONS DUE by 5:00pm on Friday, September 28, 2026.
Media
Acceptable media include:
● original illustrations, paintings, sketches etc.
● original photo collage - but note that we are not accepting single photographs.
● physical models – 3D printed or crafted out of popsicle sticks or other material.
● sculptures
● animated files in .mp4 format
● digital illustrations
Check in with TK1 if your submission is outside these categories.
Rules
● Submit original artwork in person to TK1. Electronic files to be submitted to TK1
via email (admin@truekids1.org).
● Classroom submissions may be done by a teacher electronically.
● Both classrooms and individuals agree to on-camera interviews to describe their
winning entries.
● All art submitted to TK1 becomes TK1’s Intellectual Property, with TK1 free to
disseminate it as we choose. Submissions will never be used for any commercial
purpose, and all disseminated submissions will be credited to the original artist.
