Evacuation Drills - 8/27 & 8/28
We will be conducting 2 reunification drills this week - please make sure your students understand that they will walk to the Taos Youth and Family center and you will pick them up there. If there are alternate after school plans, make sure they understand so there is less confusion when we depart.
Thursday 8/27: Kinder - 2nd depart at 2:30 with all siblings for 3:00 arrival at TYFC
Friday 8/28: 3rd - 5th depart at 2:30 with all siblings for 3:00 arrival at TYFC
Families will turn North on Calle Palomita (The West side of the Youth Center), drive around the back of the youth center and line up for student pick up in the parking lot of the Taos Youth and Family Center. You may not enter the parking lot from the roundabout, you must enter by turning right on Calle Palomita from the highway, after the youth center. Please share this information with them with anyone picking your student up.
Please be prompt for pick-up! Students who attend After-Care will walk back to school when the drill is completed.
What is a Reunification Plan?
Each school in New Mexico is required to have a reunification plan. This plan goes into effect any time we need to evacuate the school building and campus due to unsafe conditions such as a gas leak, loss of utility services, or active shooter event. As part of this planned drill, students will walk to the evacuation site at the Youth and Family Center on 407 Paseo Del Cañon E, Taos, NM 87571 to be picked up by parents.
Attached is a map to show our intended traffic pattern for parent pick up. Please review carefully-
